Job Description
**Introduction**
IBM Z Hardware Development is seeking a physical design engineer for the development of our next-generation Z processor. You will be working as part of a global chip design team to design and build one of the highest-performance processors in the world on cutting-edge technology nodes.
**Your role and responsibilities**
* Partner with the broader design team to drive the physical design of a complex, high-frequency processor chip including RTL synthesis, placement and routing, power performance area (PPA) optimization, design rule checking (DRC), and timing closure.
* Provide physical design feedback to logic owners and other stakeholders to ensure the design is on the best path to closure and delivery to manufacturing
**Required technical and professional expertise**
* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science Demonstrated experience in scripting and methodology flows.
* Demonstrated communication skills in a diverse team environment.
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
* Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
* Experience in physical design closure
* Experience with scripting languages used in hardware design like Tcl, Python, SKILL, etc
