Workshop Ethos:

Over the past decade, I have both led and participated in numerous photography workshops with some of the leading photographers in the field. These experiences have shaped the unique approach we offer in our 2025 Shark Bay aerial workshop. This workshop is all about adventure, education, and creativity in a relaxed natural environment, with a focus on hands-on learning and personalized guidance.

Our goal for this workshop is to provide a more accessible experience while maintaining the high-quality instruction and unique opportunities that define my workshops. By focusing exclusively on aerial photography and offering budget-friendly accommodations, we’ve streamlined costs to ensure this workshop is accessible without compromising on quality. This leaner format allows us to focus on what truly matters: capturing stunning aerial images and enhancing your skills. I’ve made sure we are still staying at Monkey Mia because this is an experience in it’s self if you’ve never been, it truly is one of the most beautiful and unique location on the Australian coastline to call our “homebase” for a few days.

Key Features of the Workshop:

  • Intimate Group Size: We’ve capped the group at 4 participants to provide a more personalized experience. This means more one-on-one time and a custom-tailored learning environment.
  • Daily Debriefs and Image Reviews: Each day features sessions for debriefing and image review. We start with a quick group discussion, followed by individual time to address specific questions and review your work in detail.
  • Flexible and Open Schedule: While there is a basic structure to each day, there’s plenty of free time to explore Monkey Mia, engage in drone photography (if you own one or borrow ours) or simply enjoy the natural beauty of Shark Bay at your own pace.

Pre-Notes Meals:

  • Breakfast: Breakfast is not included in this workshop to keep costs down. You are welcome to enjoy breakfast at your leisure at the Boughshed Restaurant or bring your own provisions. (try not to eat too much before our flights! It may end up on your lap)
  • Lunch and Dinners: Lunch and dinners are not included. However, there’s plenty of time scheduled for meals, and you’re welcome to join us or enjoy some time alone. There are several dining options available on-site, including casual dining at the Monkey Bar and more formal meals at the Boughshed Restaurant.

Monkey Mia Amenities:

  • Monkey Mia has all the essentials on-site, including a small grocery shop and two restaurants. Whether you want a quick snack or a more substantial meal, you have options. Relax by the beach, join us for a drive around the lagoons, or explore the beautiful coastline at your own pace.

Accommodation:

  • Participants will stay in Monkey Mia’s Budget Rooms, which offer a comfortable and affordable stay while keeping everyone in close proximity to each other. These rooms provide a great way to experience Monkey Mia while staying within budget, and being next door to each other fosters a sense of community and easy collaboration throughout the workshop. You’ll be just steps away from the beach, allowing you to fully enjoy the natural beauty of Shark Bay.

Transport:

  • I will provide daily drives to the small airport and back. My trusty 4WD will also be available for short trips and supply runs. If you’re arriving from interstate, hire cars are available in Denham or Geraldton, but please drive carefully due to local wildlife. If you need a pick-up, just let me know—we’ll figure it out together.
