Description
Mid West Wheatbelt, Western Australia
A string of small salt lakes threads across the Wheatbelt, each one glowing amber and coral inside a soft white rim of salt. From the air they read like beads dropped across the paddocks, held together by a thin line of native scrub. The colours come from salt loving algae that bloom as the water evaporates through the warmer months, so no two visits ever look quite the same.
