A sheet of cinnamon coloured water meets pale grey tailings in the remote Goldfields, with fine lines running straight across the whole scene. The contrast between the soft swirling ground and those perfectly straight lines is what drew me to this one. It feels almost like a piece of marble.

The paper
Every print is made on a 100% cotton fine art paper from Hahnemühle or Moab, two of the most respected names in archival printing.
From the air, these landscapes are all texture: salt crusts, tidal channels, wind lines in the sand. A gently textured paper carries some of that onto your wall. As the light in your room moves through the day, the surface catches it and gives the print a quiet, three dimensional depth that smooth photo paper can't.
I match each image to its paper by hand, so the texture always suits the subject.

A lightly defined felt surface on a clean white base. Soft to the touch, with crisp detail and deep blacks, it holds every grain of sand and ripple of water.

Made on a traditional cylinder mould at St Cuthberts Mill, with a fine grain and a warm natural white. It has the feel of handmade paper and brings a softness to warm tones, tidal flats and desert country.
The cotton fibres give the surface a gentle relief, so the image shifts softly as the light moves across it.
A matte surface with no shine, so the print reads clearly from any angle in the room.
