My work in the United States has taken me from Antelope Canyon in Arizona to the Mojave Desert and San Francisco. Solar fields, sandstone and fog create a completely different palette from home.

Crimson Arch
From $450Antelope Canyon, Page, Arizona, United States
Deep inside Antelope Canyon, sandstone walls curl overhead in sweeping layers of crimson, with a natural arch framing a second glimpse of light beyond. Thousands of years of flash floods have carved and polished these walls into flowing shapes. Standing in the quiet below, the light seems to pour down the rock like liquid.
Valley of Giants
From $450Monument Valley, Arizona
The Mittens catch the last of the light across Monument Valley while the valley floor sinks into shadow. Part of my vector series, where real photographs from my road trips through the American Southwest are reworked into flat layers of colour.
Fault Line
From $450Yosemite National Park, California
Up close, the bark of an old pine in Yosemite breaks into plates like a jigsaw, with one deep fissure running through it like a river seen from the air. Warm afternoon light pulls out every layer of rust and copper.
Outpost
From $450Oregon Coast, Oregon
Sea stacks crowned with windswept trees rise out of the Pacific along the Oregon coast, glowing pink in the evening light while the water below turns deep blue.
Afterglow
From $450San Francisco, California
The San Francisco skyline at sunset, softened into streaks of colour so the towers become shapes rather than buildings. A quieter way of seeing a big city, all warm sky and soft light.
Skyward
From $450Antelope Canyon, Page, Arizona, United States
Looking straight up through a narrow slot in Antelope Canyon, the walls twist and fold in layers of deep red sandstone. A ribbon of light breaks through at the top, lighting the rock from within. Each curve was carved by water over thousands of years, and the canyon feels more like a sculpture than a place.
Yellow Door
From $450Palm Springs, California
A bright yellow door waits at the end of a cool grey breezeway, framed by palms that seem to go on forever. From my Palm Springs series, walking the strangely quiet, almost dystopian streets of the desert’s mid century modern neighbourhoods.
Heliostat
From $450Ivanpah, Mojave Desert, California
Hundreds of thousands of mirrors surround the towers at Ivanpah in the Mojave Desert, all turned to focus sunlight onto a single point. From above, the whole field glows like it is on fire.
Beverly Hills Gold II
From $450Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, United States
A vertical companion to Beverly Hills Gold. As the sun sank behind the hills, the haze over Los Angeles turned to molten orange and the old tower stood out in silhouette above the palms. Layer after layer of ridgeline fades into the glow, with a single bird crossing the sky above the dome. A quiet, painterly moment above one of the busiest cities in the world.
Beverly Hills Gold
From $450Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California, United States
Beverly Hills City Hall rises out of a sea of palms as the last light turns the haze over Los Angeles to gold. Layer after layer of hills fades into the glow, with a single bird crossing the dome.
Transition
From $450San Fran
From $450Beacons
From $450Ivanpah, Mojave Desert, California
Two of the Ivanpah towers glow at dusk across the Mojave, their mirror fields lit up like cities seen from the air.
Salt Mosaic
From $450Great Salt Lake, Utah, United States
Near Salt Lake City, the evaporation ponds of the Great Salt Lake split into blocks of raspberry and jade, laced with a web of white salt crust.
Red Rock
From $450Sedona, Arizona
Red sandstone buttes glowing in the late light under a wide desert sky. Part of my vector series, where real photographs from my road trips through the American Southwest are reworked into flat layers of colour.
Salt Fields
From $450Great Salt Lake, Utah, United States
Rows of blue, jade and green ponds stretch across the Great Salt Lake, each holding its own colour as the brine slowly turns to salt.
I Am Robot
From $450San Francisco, California
The Golden Gate Bridge rising out of the fog, with only the top of one tower and its cables breaking through. Hidden in the mist, the familiar landmark takes on a mechanical, almost robotic presence above the bay.
The cool greys against that unmistakable orange red make it a striking piece for a modern home or office.
Rose Veins
From $450Great Salt Lake, Utah, United States
Fine channels of deep red reach up through pale salt on the Great Salt Lake, branching like the roots of a tree as the water drains away.
Golden Age
From $450Ivanpah, Mojave Desert, California
Row after row of mirrors at the Ivanpah solar plant curve across the desert floor, catching the low sun and glowing gold. From the air the field becomes a rhythm of lines and texture, broken by a single dark track sweeping through the frame.
It shows a man made landscape in a way few people ever see, and the warm tones give it a timeless, almost vintage feel.
Fractal
From $450Mount Shasta, California
In the forests around Mount Shasta in Northern California, I looked straight down on the treetops and found these star shaped crowns of conifer branches, each tier unfolding into smaller versions of itself, the way a fractal does. Small points of warm light at the centre make the deep emerald tones glow.
One of the more abstract pieces in the collection, rich and textural, for a space that needs something calming but full of detail.
